Future Generations Leadership Development
Foundations for Tomorrow has worked in collaboration with the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales - the world leader in legally enshrined future generations policy - to create tools for leaders to develop their future generations leadership skills.
Foundations for Tomorrow’s leadership development programs have reached more than 1,000 leaders from 42 countries worldwide, increasing their literacy in ‘future generations’ issues.
Future Generations Leadership Accelerator
An interactive online learning program for emerging future generations leaders providing an entry-level introduction to future generations leadership and policy.
Future Generations Policy Leader Toolkit
A concise toolkit of insights from world-leading experts on the future generations policy agenda designed for existing policy leaders to engage with core concepts and approaches.
The Future Generations Leadership Accelerator
The Future Generations Leadership Accelerator was designed and launched in 2022 to empower young people from around the world to step up as future generations leaders. Across four modules, young leaders are guided through the fundamentals of future generations thinking, examples of future generations policy in practice from around the world and then coached through the creation of their own Impact Roadmap.
“The Future Generations Accelerator is a powerful resource to upskill and mobilise young leaders globally, and we're grateful to the organisation for their deep commitment to our shared vision. It will help create the global leadership future generations desperately need. Foundations for Tomorrow's outside-the-box thinking ensures the co-development approach is creative and energising. Their expertise, creativity, and collaborative approach make them a trusted partner in creating a better world for future generations. We wholeheartedly thank Foundations for Tomorrow for their impactful work to combat global challenges."

Expanding Our Impact
The first cohort had 345 young leaders from more than 42 countries around the world participate. Their contributions also led to the creation of the Contract for Our Future presented at Stockholm+50, which captured a powerful call to action for Member States to protect the interests of future generations.
In 2023, the Accelerator was updated in partnership with the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales to increase its scale and impact in the lead-up to the United Nations Summit of the Future, this included translating the Accelerator into three additional languages to increase the inclusivity of the program.
The Future Generations Global Ambassadors
The relaunch of the Accelerator brought with it the introduction of 25 Future Generations Global Ambassadors, hand-picked by the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales and Foundations for Tomorrow. This cohort of young leaders will act as champions of youth leadership in future generations of leadership, helping to activate more young people to engage in the growing global movement.
The Ambassadors, ranging in age from 19-30 years old, represent communities from all around the world – from the Republic of Korea to Canada, Ireland, India, Uganda and Germany – and come with a broad range of leadership experience and expertise across sustainable development, long-term governance practices, futures, foresight and risk research.
The Future Generations Policy Leader Toolkit
This Toolkit is designed to be digestible while bringing cutting-edge policy thinking to the fingertips of policy leaders worldwide, supporting them in understanding and implementing future generations' thinking in policy, legislation, and processes.
Across 10 episodes, the Toolkit covers everything from the fundamentals of future generations concepts to the key challenges and implementation considerations.
The Toolkit is free to access online, including additional resources on core concepts, and via Spotify, and will run until the Summit of the Future in September 2024.
