Foundations for Tomorrow is an active participant in the broader global future generations movement aimed at creating sustainable, long-term solutions for our planet.
Having contributed to global platforms such as the United Nations COP26 Climate Conference, the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, the Network of Institutions for Future Generations, and the Global Parliamentary Congress, FFT is rapidly earning its reputation as a leading voice for future generations policy and leadership.
Our global perspective strengthens our local initiatives as we share knowledge, strategies, and inspiration with like-minded organisations worldwide, gaining momentum to create a future that transcends boundaries and unites us for a common cause.
Global Future Generations Ambassadors
During 2023, as part of our ongoing partnership with the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, Foundations for Tomorrow convened a cohort of Global Future Generations Ambassadors.
This cohort ranges from 19 - 30 years old and includes representation from over 20 countries, including Wales and the Republic of Korea, Canada, Ireland, India, Uganda, Germany and Barbados.
Together this cohort works to advocate for future generations leadership across their respective fields and at global events, acting as role models and helping to activate young people to become productive advocates in the growing global movement of future generations policy.
The cohort is currently developing several projects and campaigns to advance their mandate in the lead-up to the Summit of the Future.
Working Towards an Impactful
Summit of the Future
The United Nations Summit of the Future, due to take place in September 2024, is a high-level event bringing world leaders together to forge a new international consensus on how we deliver a better present and safeguard the future.
The Summit is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance cooperation on critical challenges and address gaps in global governance, reaffirm existing commitments, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations Charter.
This unique moment has the potential to act as a pivotal milestone to rebuild trust and prove that effective multilateralism and international cooperation can effectively address both current and future challenges.
A Statement of Commitment
At the 2023 Dubai Futures Forum, the largest global gathering of futurists, Foundations for Tomorrow launched a pledge of support for this critical global moment in partnership with the School of International Futures.
The ‘Statement of Commitment for the Summit of the Future’ mobilises civil society in service of a high-ambition outcome rooted in tangible action.
In response to the appetite and ambition of participants, this session has acted as a launching pad for ongoing convening and mobilisation towards the 2024 Summit of the Future and beyond.
Contributing to Consultative Processes
Foundations for Tomorrow is actively involved in international consultative processes leading up to the Summit of the Future, specifically with regard to the crafting of the Pact for the Future, which is intended to showcase global solidarity for current and future generations.
